We’re pleased to announce that Blow Up will be hosting a night at Upstairs @ The Garage as part of the second year of HMV’s Next Big Thing festival. Spread over 6 London venues (plus one in Birmingham and Edinburgh) and running between 4th – 13th February 2011, the festival’s aim is to showcase and celebrate the very best new and emerging talent drawn from all genres of music tipped to breakthrough in 2011. The Blow Up night is the first date of the festival on Friday 4th February, and Blow Up Records‘ artists Baltic Fleet, Silvery and The Bongolian will be playing live, following by the Blow Up club at 11pm until 3am with DJs Paul Tunkin & Ian Jackson bringing you the classic Blow Up mix of Orgasmic Pop, Psych, 60s Mod Soul and New Wave Glam action. Expect to hear a selection ranging from The Beatles to Bowie to Blur mixed with 60s moves and grooves (Soul, Boogaloo, Garage, Ska, Beat and Swinging Soundtracks). Entry to all events for the festival will be for the bargain price of a flat £10 (incl. b/f), whoever the artist and whichever the venue. Tix here

Silvery are recording a session for Mark Riley on BBC 6music to be broadcast live tonight from 7pm. Expect to hear previews of tracks from their forthcoming 2nd album Railway Architecture which will be released on August 9th, and is preceded by the single The Naked & The Dead on July 26th which was recently up for 6music’s Rebel Playlist. Silvery will be releasing the follow up to their 2008 debut album with their second album Railway Architecture on August 9th. The first single ‘The Naked & The Dead had its first play last Thursday on Marc Riley’s 6 Music show, and if you’re quick you can listen back on the BBC iPlayer(38 mins in). Riley has invited the band in for a BBC 6Music Session on 12th July – stay tuned for more details.
Silvery’s debut Thunderer & Excelsior was a BBC 6 Music Album of the Day, Artrocker Album of the Year (No 19), an Organ Top 10 album of the year and gained a multitude of supporters across press and radio including Steve Lamacq, Marc Riley, David Quantick amongst others.

Following Monday’s debut play of Silvery’s next single ‘GIVE A LITTLE LOVE’ its now up for BBC 6 Music’s Rebel Playlist, the winner of which makes it onto the official playlist.
You can listen to the new track on our myspace or on the BBC 6 Music site where you have until midnight this Sunday to register your vote!
The track brand new recording of Give A Little Love, a cover version of the Paul Williams song as featured in the musical Bugsy Malone. The song has often featured in the Silvery live set and the band thought it was high time to put a studio version down. This track is not included on their debut album Thunderer & Excelsior, but will be downloadable from Monday 15th December from all reputable purveyors of digital phonograms and just in time for Christmas!

The single has just been chosen by Steve Lamacq as his Single Of The Week on BBC 6 Music, which means it’ll be spun every day
After weeks of plays on BBC Radio (Lamacq, Riley, Lamarr, Crowley, Radcliffe & Maconie) and both BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music live sessions, Silvery release their third single ‘Action Force’, taken from their debut album ‘Thunderer & Excelsior’.
The double A-side is ‘The Nod’, a new non-album exclusive recording of a live favourite. Its the perfect showcase for their unique and riotous Victoriana inspired sound and a worldview that suggests a heady concoction of British Sea Power through a filter of Sparks, Bowie, XTC and Blur at their punky fairground best.
